We don't have formal membership or certificates. Instead, this is an informal community held together by its principles. You can join or leave at any time, free of charge. To those who have joined and enjoy being part of it, thank you for supporting this community in various ways.

Think English Club — Values & Principles

1. Fundamental Purpose

The fundamental purpose of Think English Club is to continually research, innovate and implement effective models of Skills-Based Learning for learners and educators.

2. Six Principles of Teaching

The principles provide the philosophical space within which the Club consistently works to translate ideas into teaching and learning practice:

• English Oracy

• Multiple Literacies

• Transferable Skills

• Differentiated Instruction

• Learning How to Learn

• Resilience and Self-Management

3. Guiding Teaching Approaches

The Club draws on established pedagogical approaches to bring the Six Principles into the classroom:

• Problem-Based Learning (PBL)

• Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

• Content-Based Language Teaching (CBLT)

• Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL)

• Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT)

• Dialogic and Socratic Teaching

4. English as Both Subject and Tool

English is both the subject being learned and a tool for developing the learner.

5. Purposeful Use of English

The Club champions learning through real-world contexts, connecting English with authentic situations, relevant knowledge, ideas and experiences so that language becomes a tool for meaningful communication.

6. Reflection and Feedback

The Club encourages learning through awareness, prompting learners and educators to reflect on progress, identify areas for improvement and use constructive feedback to make learning and teaching more effective.

7. Community, Research and Collaboration

The Club fosters learning together, recognising language learning as a social process in which learners, educators, parents and researchers share knowledge, experiences and perspectives.
