(Secondary / Ages 11+)
A skills-focused English course for teenagers, building language knowledge and practical use of English through critical thinking and effective language acquisition.
Stop freezing when you want to say something. Hold real conversations, argue your point, explain ideas, tell stories and join discussions without running out of words or confidence.
Understand what people (and videos, podcasts, teachers) are actually saying — even when they talk fast, use slang or go off-topic.
Reading
Handle longer texts, articles, stories and school material without feeling lost. Spot the important bits, understand the hidden meaning and form your own opinion.
Turn messy thoughts into clear messages, emails, essays, reviews or posts that make sense and sound like you.
The tools that make everything above possible. We build them in context so you remember and actually use them — not just pass a test and forget.
No endless gap-fills. We explain what you need, then you use it — in conversations, debates, projects, role-plays, problem-solving tasks and real writing.
Classroom activities may include:
introducing and practising new language
working with texts and dialogues
vocabulary and grammar activities
conversations and discussions
role plays and practical situations
projects and problem-solving tasks
written tasks and short presentations
Tasks get harder and more independent as you progress. Feedback is regular and practical, so you always know what to focus on next.

Think English Club recognises that there are many ways to define, develop and combine skills. For teenagers, we build on the four core strands from our younger learners' programme and extend them into five paired strands better suited to teenage development.
We aim to nurture these skills naturally, helping teenagers grow into confident, capable English users who can draw on all five strands together, applying them appropriately as each situation demands.

Teaching is adjusted to each teenager's level, previous experience, strengths and needs.
New language is reinforced through repeated practice and use in real, relevant contexts.
Language and tasks grow more complex as learners build their knowledge and confidence using English.
Materials are selected to suit teenage interests, level and learning requirements.
As an independent Club with no ties to any publishing house, we're free to evaluate materials purely on their educational merit and choose what best suits each learner's age, level and goals. Every textbook used at the Club is carefully reviewed by Tutor Martin before it's introduced to students. At the same time, we welcome titles that bring fresh, innovative approaches and offer genuine value in supporting teaching and learning.
We use textbooks from Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Pearson, Macmillan Education and National Geographic Learning.
English for Teens is suitable for learners aged 11–19, from beginners to more advanced learners. We usually divide teens into two categories: lower secondary (11–14) and upper secondary (14–19).
The course can support teenagers who want to:
develop their general English
strengthen areas where they are less secure
extend their grammar and vocabulary
communicate more effectively in English
prepare for the increasing language demands of secondary education
continue developing their English alongside school
prepare for examinations as part of broader English development
For learners who need English specifically for academic study, research or academic communication, see our Academic English Skills course. If you're preparing for Cambridge English, IELTS or Oxford Test of English examinations specifically, see our English Exam Skills course.
Note
Think English Club is not part of any educational group, corporation or publishing house. We do not offer courses leading to educational certificates or formal qualifications, nor do we issue certificates or qualifications ourselves. We do not sell textbooks.
