Adults / career-focused learners
Life rarely stays inside one language or one culture. A message to a colleague, a conversation with a neighbour from another country, a trip abroad, or an online discussion can all call for English. This course builds the language adults need to communicate clearly, understand more, and use English with growing confidence in the situations that matter to them — at work, in social life, and beyond.
Learners develop the language for the full range of adult situations: workplace interactions (meetings, emails, calls, presentations), social conversations, travel, online communication, and everyday practical needs. Feedback, disagreement and more sensitive conversations are practised with the same care as routine exchanges.
Vocabulary and grammar expand so learners can express ideas accurately rather than approximately, choose the right level of formality, and move confidently between formal and informal English without losing clarity.
Pronunciation, stress and natural rhythm are developed so speech is easy to understand and ideas land as intended — whether in a short conversation, a presentation, or a discussion with people from different backgrounds.
Critical Thinking and Expression
English becomes a tool for thinking as well as communicating: analysing information, weighing different viewpoints, building a clear argument, and expressing opinions with greater confidence and precision.
Throughout, lessons draw on the language learners actually need for their own work, interests and personal situations, so new language is immediately useful and transferable.
Lessons are built around situations with a genuine purpose. Learners develop the ability to:
communicate ideas clearly and precisely
understand and respond to different perspectives
ask effective questions and lead meaningful discussions
read and evaluate professional and academic information
explain complex ideas in accessible language
present, negotiate and persuade
analyse information and make informed decisions
adapt communication to different situations, relationships and cultures
English is practised in situations with real stakes: meetings and discussions, presentations, negotiations, interviews, networking, professional correspondence, telephone and online communication, giving and receiving feedback, managing disagreement, and leading or taking part in projects.
Learners build on what they already know, working with increasingly demanding language and more complex situations as their confidence grows. Practice is set to each learner's level, goals and professional context, and progress is monitored through spoken and written work, practical tasks and regular feedback.

Think English Club recognises that there are many ways to define, develop and combine skills. For adult learners, we build on the same core strands used across our programmes, adapted to reflect the demands of professional life, relationships and lifelong learning.
We aim to nurture these skills naturally, helping adults become confident, capable English users who can draw on all five strands together, applying them appropriately as each situation demands.

Professionals arrive with very different starting points and very different reasons for learning. We adapt the level, pace, focus and amount of support to each learner's background, goals and existing skills.
Professional communication is built through use: discussing, presenting, negotiating, writing and responding to the unexpected, in situations that resemble the ones learners actually face at work.
Language, thinking and communication develop together rather than as separate strands. A single task might involve reading a report, discussing its implications, drafting a response and presenting a recommendation.
For learners who need formal certification, we offer a dedicated English Exam Skills programme focused specifically on preparation for international English examinations and tests.
